vs Fixed Braces – Which is best?
The answer to this question depends very much on the extent of the orthodontic problem.
Invisalign may be suitable where minimal tweaks are required, although your specialist orthodontist will need to assess the level of treatment required. However, the main caveat is that results may not be successful in the long term.
Fixed braces may be suitable where more extensive treatment is needed and the results are very successful long term.

The Invisalign system is comprised of transparent aligners that slide comfortably over the teeth, to gradually move them into the correct
position over an average period of 12-18 months. The aligners are made using the orthodontist’s treatment plan and a computerised model of the patient’s teeth. Invisalign is popular for its minimal cosmetic impact and the ease with which it can be removed for cleaning.
Ceramic braces use square brackets that are clear and tooth-coloured, giving a discreet appearance. The benefits are firstly that they are comfortable because the hardware does not irritate the gums. Secondly, they have a high quality make-up. Ceramic braces do not generally break or chip unless they are poorly maintained.
Six Month Smiles is a cosmetic solution for straightening your teeth which takes just 6 months on average. Clear braces in tooth-coloured wires gently straighten your teeth and people will barely notice you’re even wearing braces. It only focuses on the front teeth and so the treatment time is much less than with traditional metal or ceramic braces. For the same reason, it is also typically cheaper than traditional braces.
Traditional metal braces remain a popular option for straightening teeth. The benefits are firstly that they are a long-standing treatment that has been around for over 100 years. However, they have continued to evolve over the years and are still used today. Secondly, the design is versatile. You can opt for coloured brackets – a particularly good incentive for young people who are anxious about having treatment.

FAQ's
What are the benefits of orthodontic treatment?
Orthodontic treatment moves teeth into a healthy position, giving you the optimum bite and a full and beautiful smile. It also helps to reduce gum disease and tooth decay, as it is much easier to clean teeth that are straight and correctly positioned. Correctly positioned teeth also make it easier to chew food.
As straightened teeth meet correctly, any undue stress on the temporomandibular joint is removed. TMD has numerous symptoms, including clenching and grinding. Other symptoms include headaches, neck and shoulder pain, and recurrent pain or discomfort on the side of the face around the ears or jaw joints.
What does treatment involve?
Treatment begins with your orthodontist undertaking an in-depth study of the mouth and jaw, using X-rays, in order to devise a strategy for moving the teeth into position. The method most often chosen is fixed braces, which will typically be adjusted and tightened every 6 weeks for a duration of 1 to 2 years.
Cosmetically, there may be an aspect of your smile that you dislike, causing you to stop smiling as much as you might may wish to. Typical problems include crooked or crowded teeth. They may stick out or have gaps between them that you think are unsightly. A malocclusion can lead to other dental problems, including excessively worn, chipped and broken teeth, and Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMD).

Other symptoms include headaches, neck and shoulder pain, and recurrent pain or discomfort on the side of the face around the ears or jaw joints.
Why might I need orthodontic treatment?
The duration of orthodontic treatment depends upon the nature of the problem, and the appliance chosen to address it. For example, aligners to correct crowding of 1 or 2 teeth can take just 6 to 14 weeks. Traditional braces may have to be worn from 6 up to 24 months.
If you think you may require orthodontic treatment, your orthodontist will discuss all of the various options with you, so you can make an informed decision of how to proceed.

Implant dentistry is truly life-changing dentistry. We have seen this with our patients many times. We are one of the region's leading dental implant practices and Dr Amit Pabari and his team have treated many complex cases, many of whom have been referred by their own dentist.
Dental implants are virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth in appearance, feel and utility. If you are experiencing damaged or missing teeth, we will take the time to fully assess and discuss all your options before embarking on any treatment, helping you to decide the most suitable solution for your circumstances and requirements.
Replacing a single tooth
If you have lost a tooth, a dental implant restoration can be the best solution to replace it. They can look and feel like the real thing and can help to restore your smile, and if properly cared for, can last a lifetime. As well as the aesthetic benefits they can do so much more by preserving your neighbouring healthy teeth, associated bone and tissue, restore strength, bite and natural function.
Would you benefit from dental implants?
Replacing multiple teeth
Dental implants are a long-term solution to replace multiple missing teeth. Whether you have a few single gaps in your mouth or if you have a larger gap where several teeth once were, we can use one, or two or more implant supported restorations to conceal the gaps. In cases where several teeth are missing in a row, we can use implants to support a bridge carefully designed to match the colour and shape of your natural teeth.
Replacing all of your teeth
We have over 10 years’ experience of finding and providing solutions for patients with missing or no teeth. When you have lost all your teeth in either the upper or lower jaw the options to replace them are generally limited to a traditional removable denture or implant-supported solutions either dentures or bridgework, which can be fixed or removable.
For patients looking to rid themselves of ill-fitting or uncomfortable traditional dentures then we offer the All-on-Four® technique, this approach provides a ‘fixed’ solution, using only four implants in each jaw and replacing your teeth with bridgework.
Denture Stabilisation
Denture stabilisation is the insertion of multiple implants into the jaw, to attach full or partial dentures. These are slightly smaller than regular dental implants and help to keep dentures secure in your mouth with no movement.

Frequently asked questions
How does an Implant work?
A dental implant is a small titanium screw which acts as a replacement tooth root when a single tooth, multiple teeth or all of the teeth are missing. They are carefully and precisely placed into the jawbone where surrounding bone will grow around and fuse onto the implant in a process known as osseo-integration. This forms a strong foundation for the final artificial tooth or teeth to be secured.
How are Dental Implants placed?
Dental implants are fixed into jawbone, and we can provide patients with implant treatments even where there is very little jaw structure available. This may be due to previous infection, long standing use of dentures, cancer or trauma.
How long do Dental Implants take?
The healing period after having an implant placed is in the region of two to three months. Temporary restorations can be fitted during this time for the patient’s comfort and appearance. Once the implant has successfully integrated, a couple of appointments which don’t involve further surgery are then used to construct the final teeth.
What happens in a Consultation for Dental Implants?
Patients will have a one hour initial implant consultation with Dr Amit Pabari, the principal dentist at Stourbridge Dental and Implant Clinic, who will carry out an in-depth clinical assessment and then talk through all of the available options. Patients will be made aware of the commitment required from them for successful treatment, for example they may be asked to stop smoking, and advised on the best follow up care such as regular dental hygiene appointments. There are very few patients we are unable to help.

What can I say, I came across this dentist on the web, and I could not fault it, 1st class service, very professional and caring to all patients. I would like to wish a big thank you to Amit (Dentist), Julian (Technician), Hannah & Rhiann and of course the reception team, Ellie & Rachel. The work you have done on me regarding my teeth is amazing, I will totally recommend you to all my family and friends, I cannot thank you enough. Best wishes.
Gill Chance
My experience of Stourbridge Dental and Implant Clinic has been nothing short of superb.
From the moment I stepped through the door, being greeted by Tyler, Elizabeth and Ellie on reception, which is always a pleasure and really settles me, they are engaging and really personable.
Following a push bike accident, a number of years earlier and the NHS treatment I'd at the time needing replacing; I had damaged my gums and fractured roots in several front teeth, so on attendance my front teeth were discolored (going black) and I actually had teeth breaking down literally to the gum, they were in simple terms a mess, so I put my faith in Dr Amit Pabari and this practice.
It's been the best thing I've ever done.
