The procedure involves wearing a series of aligners that will gradually move your teeth to create a straighter more aesthetically pleasing smile. Each aligner is worn for roughly two weeks at a time before moving on to the next aligner, times can vary from patient to patient. Each aligner is slightly different to the previous one and gently applies more pressure to teeth that need to be straightened.
You will need to wear your aligners day and night to achieve the best results. If they are not worn consistently your teeth will begin to relapse to their original position and your treatment time will dramatically increase.
You should only remove your aligners for:
- Brushing
- Flossing
- Eating
- Drinking
The time it takes for Invisalign to straighten your teeth is entirely case dependant. Typically you will go through 18-36 aligners for your upper and lower arches, which will take approximately 9 to 18 months.
Visits to the clinic will be required every 4 to 6 weeks to check the progress of the treatment and supply you with your next series of aligners.
