Another popular orthodontic treatment we offer is the Inman Aligner . Read on to find out how you can quickly straighten front teeth with Inman Aligner treatment.
Inman Aligner-The Treatment Explained
Over the years, advancements in the field of dentistry have brought about a range of solutions for different conditions. One such is Inman Aligner, which is a removable appliance mainly used to align the front teeth. It can also be used to pre-align teeth before bonding, veneers or other cosmetic options. Here’s a close look at this popular dental solution.
How does Inman Aligner work?
The aligner comes with coil springs (made from Nickel Titanium) that power 2 aligner bows on your front teeth. One bow pushes forward while the other pulls back. This action guides your teeth into the new position quickly and safely. Despite having a metal wire, the appliance is typically not visible and tends to resemble a clear gum shield.
What does the treatment involve?
Usually, the initial step in treatment with Inman Aligner is to determine if the procedure is suitable for the patient. The general condition of the teeth will be examined and relevant x-rays taken. If you’re found to be a suitable candidate, the treatment will continue. Here are the steps involved.
1. Making of impressions
Impressions are usually needed for the fabrication of the Aligner in the lab. The device is created on accurate 3D printed models that are digitally corrected and aligned into the appropriate set-up according to aesthetics and your bite.
2. Fitting
You will then be fitted with the appliance. The dentist will give you a detailed chart indicating areas where any interproximal reduction is required as well as where any additional parts of the aligner may need to be placed.
3. Wearing the Aligner
You should ideally wear the appliance for at least 16-20 hours a day. While you can wear for lesser time, the treatment time is likely to increase.
4. Regular Checks
Checks are needed at least every 2 to 3 weeks during the treatment period. They allow the dentist to assess how you’re responding to treatment as well as make any adjustments where necessary.
Note that it can take up to 7-10 days of wearing the appliance to become acclimatized. During this period, your speech might be affected but things should return to normal within 10-15 days.
How long does Inman Aligner treatment last?
In general, treatment takes anywhere between 6 and 16 weeks; less complex cases may be completed in a month or so with more complex cases taking up to 4 months. However, since the appliance is very efficient, it works significantly faster compared to alternative orthodontic techniques out there. After treatment is complete, you need to wear permenant retainers in order to prevent relapse. These are typically placed behind the front teeth and are never visible in your smile.
What are the benefits of Inman Aligner?
1. Relatively quick results
The appliance can correct crowded or protruded front teeth in as little as 4 weeks especially where there’s little misalignment.
2. No need for replacements
Only one appliance is needed, unlike treatments with other orthodontic appliances. There’s no need replace it every two weeks.
3. Easy to use
The Aligner is not a permanent fitting and can be easily removed & inserted. This allows for normal eating and brushing.
